Usability

Learning Management App

Process

Over the course of a semester, 5 students performed pro-bono work for this California based software company. Per discussion with the client, the primary users of this application are non-traditional adult learners, primarily in the fields of education, business, and medicine. Completing coursework between home and work, these students aim to manage their time well, prioritize responsibilities, and limit distractions. Whether the user is on lunch break at the office or watching his/her child’s soccer game, he/she wants to quickly access the app to understand: 1) What do I have to do? 2) When does it have to be done by? and 3) How am I doing in the class? To gather user insight, we completed a thorough usability analysis including user testing, card sorting analysis, in depth interviews, user personas, and user testing of wireframes.

I conducted user testing of existing prototype and analyzed student feedback. I organized a card sort to validate proposed hypothesis of information architecture. I developed personas to reinforce user-centered design techniques in interactive prototype. Finally, I contributed to sketches, wireframes, and interactive prototype.
